In Loving Memory Of Kate

As many of you know the fandom world can be an exciting place, filled with wonderful people. From it ideas are expressed, interests are shared, and friendships are created. And when a prolific person within the fandom goes missing, the loss is felt by many.

Earlier this year The Office fandom noticed the absence of one voice in particular.

Kate, known around the message boards and fanfic sites as Yanana, was a kindhearted, wonderful person who had been sharing her life and stories with her friends at MTT for years. From talk of the show each week, to the excitement of meeting her boyfriend years ago, to lending a thoughtful ear to those who just needed someone to listen. She was a vibrant, enthusiastic, and caring person who everyone came to know and adore.

Like so many others, we assumed that Kate was just busy with work, her boyfriend, and life in general, so posting online and returning emails from fandom friends had just been placed on the back burner these past few months.

Sadly, today, we learned that this was not the case, and that earlier this year Kate and her boyfriend were in a fatal car crash, not long after her 24th birthday.

It turns out that Kate had left her sister detailed instructions on things that needed to be done should such a tragedy ever occur, and on that list was telling her friends at MTT what had happened. We were all taken aback by the news, and have been sharing our thoughts and memories of Kate throughout the day.

If you didn’t know Kate, but are a fan of The Office, we want to share with you her stories. She loved the show, and Jim and Pam. And like so many others, she loved writing about them. Kate found joy, and brought joy through her writing, and we are honoured to share it with you. (If fanfic is not your thing, don’t worry. We just want to share it with anyone who may be interested.)

Stories By Yanana

The fandom and the world lost a very special soul this year. But, without The Office so many of us would have never had Kate in our lives, even for such a short time. She was a beautiful person who we will carry in our hearts, always.

And we know that wherever she may now be, we can be sure that she continues to bring joy, as well as some perfectly timed That’s What She Said jokes.

We are sending our thoughts, love, and prayers to Kate’s friends and family.

She will be missed, and always remember.

Your friends,
The Office Fandom
